How do I fix 'Network Error' for WiFi on MacBook Air (Early 2015) running Monterey 12.7.6?

Using Monterey 12.7.6 in Macbook Air (Early 2015) . Recently the problem of not sensing wifi network started. When I go to Network setting through 'system preferences' , I get a message 'Network Error". The network starts sometimes when I restart the macbook in safe mode and then restart in normal mode. I also observed that it happens mostly when the macbook goes to sleep or lid is closed and opened for using the system. One user said that I can run Wireless diagnostics to identify the issue. However , when the Wifi is not being sensed and when I Option-click on WiFi icon at this stage , no drop down menu appears and hence no way to select Open Wireless Diagnostics. Drop down menu appears only when the wifi works.
