Bluetooth car calls not working , Renault Kadjar since IOS 18

My iPhone 13 Pro Max has been connected to my Renault Kadjar via Bluetooth for 3 years without a problem .

since IOS 18 it still connects and plays music via multimedia and Bluetooth but I have no sound when I make a phone call or receive a call . For example when I get a call from the wife the radio goes silent and I get the telephone handset on the screen to answer or reject call , I answer but now since IOS 18 you can’t hear any thing . It’s the same when Google maps dials my number to give me directions , it’s comes through on screen but you can’t hear anything .

its not just my iPhone 13 Pro Max it’s the same on the wife’s iPhone 16 pro max .

the volume is up on phone and up in the settings for call volume in car .

i have soft reset phone, reset network settings, inpaired iPhone from car and also deleted Bluetooth settings for car and phone in iPhone and car settings .

this is now totally useless to do hands free calling and dangerous as in uk e can’t just make calls holding the phone like the USA .

anyone have a fix ?

can I report this bug to apple and pray for an iOS update as we have had 3 already and still not fixed my problem .

thanks

nic

If CarPlay doesn't detect your iPhone, make sure CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions are turned on, tap Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, and then tap Forget This Car.

If you're still having trouble with your car's audio system using CarPlay or Bluetooth, try the Aux cable. To get it fixed, there are two options:

  1. Take your car to a reputable car dealer or car audio specialist. They have experienced technicians who can diagnose the problem with the Aux cable. This could be a loose connection, a faulty cable itself, or an issue with the system's Aux port. They'll be able to repair the issue or recommend a replacement cable if needed.
  2. Consult your car's infotainment system manuals. These manuals often include troubleshooting sections that might address common Aux cable problems. You might find instructions for resetting the system, cleaning the Aux port, or confirming the cable's compatibility.

Before taking your car to a dealer, it's always a good idea to check the manuals first. This can sometimes save you time and money if it's a simple fix you can handle yourself. However, if the manuals don't offer a solution, or you're uncomfortable tinkering with the system, then a car audio specialist is the way to go.

I don’t have car play my car was 2017 so a year too early . As I said I have never had a problem connecting to R-Link 2 Renault car stereo for the last 3 years with my iPhone 13 but since update it won’t work on voice calls . I have followed all the steps that I have found in these discussion boards and it leads me to believe it’s with the IOS 18 update that has destroyed it
