Mac mini M4 Pro sporadically loses connection with external monitor

Just got my Mac Mini M4 Pro a few weeks ago. As of late, I've been having my external monitor LG 49WQ95C-W not show any connection. Unplugging/re-plugging the USB-C cable does nothing or even messing with the monitor settings. I have to hard shutdown the Mini and turn it back on for the display to show again. I isolated this issue with the monitor's USB-C connection by testing out the monitor's HDMI (used an HDMI to USB-C) and it was able to display correctly during the moments when the USB-C connection wasn't working. I've tried using a different USB-C cable like a Thunderbolt 5 cable and still no luck, aside from rebooting the Mini. The LG monitor is new with around 64 hours of usage. This happens when the display goes to sleep and I'm trying to wake it up. When I updated the Mini to 15.3.1, during the update reboot process, the display got messed up as well and I had to hard reboot it.

Could this be a Mac Mini issue or LG?

I have the same issue, with monitor not coming back on, ever after reboot. I thought it was my monitor, a KTC 32 Inch 4K Mini LED Monitor, Fast IPS, HDR1000 144Hz 1ms MPRT Gaming Monitor

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDNVG1MK?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1. Luckily, but sadly, I'm using an older, smaller monitor until I can figure out what to do. the new monitor passed it's return date on Amazon, so wrote the company, but haven't heard back. I really liked the monitor otherwise.

I redid my settings. I'll try hooking the new monitor back up & see.

Will purchase an HDMI cable that supports 4K @ 144hz for mac & see if that solves the issue. I had a new HDMI cable anyhow, but not sure if it's that high of quality.

Wish me luck!

I've been getting the same issue with an M4 and LG 32" monitor. In fact there's another topic regarding this issue. From the info in the other topic it's not system, cable or monitor related. It appears it's a hardware issue, with M2, M4 and, I believe, M1 Minis experiencing the same problem.

All we can do is report the problem at the Apple Mac Minifeedback page: Mac Mini Feedback.

The USB-C cable came with the monitor. I bought another USB-C cable and am going to test that out.

Using HDMI wouldn't be any issue, except if I wanted to use the KVM function, I'd need another USB cable connected. And I'm concerned if I'll still get the full 144hz refresh rate. That would be the last case scenario.

LG support was useless. They kept insisting to just use HDMI and to not use USB-C as a display output.

Well that's interesting to know! This past week, my monitor has been constantly losing connection overnight. Could be when I set my LG monitor to go into deep power saving mode which happens outside of the OS.

So I gave in and got an HDMI cable, and thankfully, I'm still getting the 144hz refresh rate! It also turns out, using the built-in KVM switch, doesn't require a USB connection. I'll only need it if I want to utilize the USB A ports that's on the monitor.

Same issue. I’m using Dell us3223qe monitor. It was working fine for a bit but increasingly unpredictable and now restarting Mac doesn’t even work. Monitor reacts at first but never gets signal and goes to sleep. Have done all the settings ideas noted in this thread. Very frustrating. Yes hdmi would work but this should too, it’s basic functionality touted by both monitor and Mac sales pitch.
