Echo during FaceTime call

Hi,

Previously, I had an iMac 2017 and now have upgraded to Mac Mini M4 2024 which obviously has a third party monitor (Samsung Viewfinity S9). Ever since I've been using the new mac/monitor my family have been experiencing echo at their end on their iPad. This wasn't there before, and it's really annoying for them.

We've both turned down our volume levels of the speakers and nothing changes, I have a JBL Flip 6 bluetooth speaker as the mac mini ones aren't that good but there's no stopping the echo. At my end, there's no echo for me at all, it's all on the iPad. I also, do have wireless headphones, but they don't have a microphone attached.

The iPad that they have is running iPad OS 18.3.1, iPad Pro 4 Gen. Any advice on what is best to stop the echo will be really great.

Many thanks,

Mac mini, macOS 15.3

I just upgraded to a Mac Mini too. Callers on regular calls and FaceTime report hearing echo when I’m using Mini. I have used a USB ext mic, and switched to a USB WEBCAM, (with mic), and the problem persists. Problem goes away with Bluetooth head phones, but I’d like to use external speakers.

I’ve had no problems with iMac/external speakers using similar volume levels.
