Resolving Spinning Beach Ball Issue When Opening Logic Pro Projects on 2019 Mac

Logic Pro 11.1.2

Sonoma 14.4.1

2019 16" MacBook Pro 2.6 ghz i7 16 gb ram

Logic Opens as expected when making a new project. However, if I try and open any other project using file->recent or file->open, I instantly get a spinning beach ball of death if I even mouse over on open recent. For open, it goes beach ball as soon as I click open. No dialogue box appears. If I wait long enough (10+ minutes) the beach ball goes away, but it returns immediately upon trying to open a file.

Any suggestions welcome!

Sounds like you may have incompatible plug-ins and/or a corrupt session.

You might also consider removing the Au Component file/plug-ins from your computer (temporarily to test).

To remove component files for Logic Pro 11, you can locate the files in the Finder and delete them. You can also remove a plug-in from a channel strip in Logic Pro.

Find and delete component files

  1. Open the Finder
  2. Select Go from the menu bar
  3. Select Go to Folder
  4. Type /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components into the Go to Folder field
  5. Click Go
  6. Locate the file for the plug-in you want to remove
  7. Drag the file to the Desktop or another location (You can drag it back later)
  8. Restart your Mac
