Turning off stolen device protection

My Face ID isn’t recognising me and therefore I can’t turn off stolen device protection to reset my Face ID

The only option is to restore the phone to factory settings. If there was a way to turn off stolen device protection without biometric identification it wouldn’t be stolen device protection, it would just be a joke.
