Hallmark Studio Greeting Card program not working on my iMac after updating to Sequoia 15.3

For years I have been using a Hallmark Studio greeting card program that worked very well.

I recently updated (upgraded) my iMac to Sequoia 15.3 and now the Hallmark program crashes.

I have checked with Hallmark and they admit to their program not working with Sequoia ( they are hoping for a patch in the future). So far I have been unable to find a greeting card program that I know will work on Sequoia. Has any one out there have a solution to this situation?

Check out Cardia from Addison Software in the App Store. It does not have a catalog of images but you can find any image you want on the internet and use that. It works with Mojave all the way to the latest Sequoia and is regularly updated. And it's only for Macintosh. No Windows nonsense.

Understand that Hallmark Card Studio has always focused on Windows users. The Mac version is simply a port of the Windows app that hasn’t been updated in years. It’s still version 22 and was last update in July 2022. It is apparently just icing on their cake. It’s not even been updated to a universal binary that supports Apple Silicon but requires Rosetta 2 to run the Intel version on M series Macs. They can’t be bothered.

I broke down and bought a 2022 MacBook Air the macOS version in it allowed me to install Hallmark and it prints cards just fine. I’m still hoping that Hallmark is going to come up with a fix but in the meantime, I’m using this MacBook to print my cards and it is doing a great job. Maybe some of you would want to pursue this avenue a little tough way to go, but it’s my solution for now good luck. Just don’t allow it to upgrade the OS.

The new hallmark v23 I believe it is called is a touch different in layout but you can still edit them and I find them easier to print as they work perfectly if you have them set up to print both sides. I used to have to flip them myself. Maybe it is your computer/ printer set up. I have had no issues with making or printing with the new hallmark for mac

Yes, in their bumbling efforts they ruined the original which worked well on the older OS. Now neither the new version or the older version work without problems.

Try opening a card built on the old version in the new and all sorts of problems appear. Attempting to copy from one version to the other crashes or you get distorted images. They are both .hcdx but not compatible with each other.

The software is not Apple friendly. You can't copy/paste from outside the Hallmark environment.

The new version has problems with text.

Adding the AI feature is a stupid gimmick. Adding this before the app is working properly just highlights the lack of professionalism of the so called developers. Obviously there is no clear development path that includes rigorous testing at each benchmark. This looks like, no, it is a 3 Stooges effort.

Time to write a letter to Hallmark CEOs. Take this contract away from a bunch of Windows monkeys (Avanquest) and give it to a reputable Apple developer to give it the look and feel of a genuine Apple product.

This is the best Hallmark software history I can put together from online info. You can correct me please.

Hallmark card software development used to be done by an outfit named Creative Home in Calabasas CA. They no longer exist or were swallowed up or bought by Avanquest. Avanquest owns Nova Development and Hallmark software is now being done there.

Nova does most of their work in Windows and has only one app for Mac, an architecture design app that looks like it runs on Apple silicon. Their Windows products look old, many are still tagged as running on Win 10 so most likely have not been touched for a while. Several have mentioned the current Hallmark app. for Mac has all the 'hallmarks' of being taken from the Win version which is God awful in itself but does work on Win 11.

Why Hallmark goes to these outfits for software is puzzling, there are so many great young Mac developers out there that could whip this out in 6 months from scratch. Swift Publisher comes to mind. The pot of gold that Hallmark has of course is the pre designed cards. Shame a decent Mac app can't be developed around it.

Luck to us all.

Check again, this morning it's $19.00.

There seems to be some conflicting information about this. When I go to Hallmark Card Studio website and select the Mac version it lists $39 with no upgrade option. However when I searched Google with “Hallmark Card Studio for Mac upgrade offer” the $19 option shows up.

I agree completely. I wrote to avanquest (email). Their reply was that a new version for sequioa is coming but it may be a few months. April 2025 is when I am writing this, and I believe their response was in march 2025

I agree, the program is invaluable to my wife and i. I feel confident they will not turn their back on us, the mac users. Perhaps if everyone emails them, it may happen sooner than later
