Photos deleted off my phone randomly

Hello random photos have been deleted off my phone from 2023-2025. My phone was not backed up nor connected to iCloud sadly. I did not delete the pictures myself. I am not here because I did that. Stating the obvious but I have to say it I did not delete the pictures myself. Anyways I started to delete pictures off my phone and was going month by month ex Jan 2023 feb 2023 so on so on. I stopped in June 2023 where I took 2 memorable trips once I went to those months I realized more than half of my pictures were gone some were there but it wasn’t pictures I even cared for example I probably took over 300 pictures from one trip now there’s 5. I would not be here if I deleted them myself it’s so upsetting not having those memories and nothing I can do to get them back. How can Apple have a “GLITCH” and delete pictures

iPhone 14 Plus, iOS 18

I concur with muguy, I still have pictures on my phone from 2005 still, they don't delete by themselves.

I’m currently having the same conversation with Apple - they have no idea why my photos are randomly disappearing from iCloud.

Story - I was recently looking for a photo from September 2017, I knew I had taken ot and it was not in iPhoto or iCloud. Thankfully I back up my photos to Google Photos and the photo was there. It turns out of the 87 photos I took that particular day only 27 were in iCloud. All the rest were on Google photos. So the question is, if the photo is in the ‘backup’ to iPhoto, where have 60 of the originals disappeared to - I certainly didn’t delete them.

I have also noticed other missing photos while randomly checking other dates - not good Apple, not good!!

I await Apple getting back to me - I won’t hold my breath.

There is no Apple here in these user to user technical forums.

You mistakenly deleted photos off your device.

It's so weird, isn't it, that this magic disappearing picture thing never happens to people with lots of experience with the Photos app. Oddly, it almost never happens to people who back up their pictures. But the victims always seem sure that they couldn't have done anything to cause it.

I wonder if your second identical post just appeared for no reason at all.

Isn’t it weird theres always some know-it-all that comes along to criticise people who are looking for some constructive advice.

Oddly, it has happened to me who has over 15 years experience with the photos app and who does back-up their pictures. Which is why my missing iPhoto pictures are still available to view in Google Photos. Explain that?

I do wonder if you have ever made a mistake in your life. Jeez.
