Unable to create a new Apple Account

Just tried to set up a secondary account so I can upload a podcast through my work email and keep it separate from my personal apple stuff. The work email is a gmail, as is my personal email.

wont let me create the account. Error is just cannot create account at this time. Support said I can’t use that email address but not why. Which is pretty frustrating. I would just like a reason so I can fix it. Don’t want to make a whole new email and just have the same error.

I really would prefer to have the accounts separate to make everything easier but I can’t solve a problem that I have no idea what it even is. Work email is just companyname@gmail so nothing crazy - anyone have any insight into what might be happening?

  • If you have ever used the work email as an Apple ID, it cannot be used to create a different one.
  • If the work email is a Rescue Email, or Additional Email that is added to your current Apple ID, it cannot be used at the same time as an Apple ID.
