Apple Card purchase description

That’s part of the security and privacy protection Apple Pay provides. Apple only has encrypted data about the transactions. Only the merchant and possibly the issuing bank would have the information you’re looking for. What you see on your iPhone is provided by the bank.

Credit card statements are reconciled with the receipt the merchant provides to you. Statements never contain itemized receipts.

I have cards with American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa and about 20 different banks. None provide a statement like you describe.

Yes, I'd like to use the Apple Card more, but the description is too vague and hard to reconcile especially when doing taxes and looking back at a years' worth of transactions. Just a little more useful information on the transaction line. Not asking for a copy of the receipt.

I have a background in finance and I am familiar with credit card transactions. In my opinion banks want to get your data to themselves and not share.

If your accounting is critical consider using an app that will sync with Apple Card and scanning receipts. There are ½ dozen on the App Store.
