iPad stuck in guided access

Screen says time expired, “a time limit of 1 minute has been set for Guided Access. Triple-click to enter the Guided Access passcode.” But when the passcode pop up comes it won’t let me type in a passcode. It’s like the screen is limited and can’t be used.

I’ve tried doing a hard reset (holding home button and lock key for 15 seconds etc) but when it comes back it goes right back to this Guided Access screen.

I tried connecting it to my computer to do a factory reset but that didn’t work because the iPad asks “trust this computer?” But there’s no way to hit the “trust” button, it just says to enter passcode which it won’t let me do.

I tried removing the device from my account but that didn’t work.

I tried letting the battery run out but that didn’t work either — when I plugged it back in it went back to this Guided Access screen.
