Siri not “adding text” to message before sending

When sending a message with Siri, I used be able to say “add to it” and Siri would continue with original message and add more. Then send whole message. Now only sends the “added portion”. Any fix?

This drives me nuts! I did figure out today that if I say, “can you add to it please” Siri will add to a message. It does not work if I just say, “can you add to it?” It doesn’t work if I just say “add to it please” however, if I say the whole phrase, it does work. It adds a couple of extra words to the command, but it at least brings back the functionality.

curious if anyone has figured out any other phrasing that will work!

Check this setting first

Hey Siri, draft a message for XYZ” and then proceed to dictate your message, there’s a risk that Siri could interpret a long pause as an end of your command, causing the message to be sent prematurely.

To avoid this, you could:

  1. Start the command clearly: "Hey Siri, draft a message for XYZ."
  2. Keep a brief pause between sentences, but don’t leave a long gap, so Siri doesn’t misunderstand the pause as you finishing your message.
  3. Pause intentionally at the end of the message and confirm it's correct before saying something like “Send.”

You could also clarify the steps with Siri, for example:

"Hey Siri, draft a message for XYZ: 'Hi, how are you?' [Brief pause] 'Just checking in to see if you want to catch up later this week.' [Brief pause] 'Let me know!'" Then you can review it and say "Send" when ready.

This way, Siri will not accidentally send the message due to an unintentional pause.
