Restoring lost iTunes playlists & songs on Music (Sequoia 15.1.1)

My computer forced an update to Sequoia and now all of my non-iTunes purchased songs (e.g. downloaded MP3s from Bandcamp, mixtapes etc) are missing from the Music app, as are my years of playlists.

The music files are all still in located in my Music folder in an "iTunes Music" folder, but changing Music's "Music Media" folder location to that folder does not bring them up in the app. And I can't figure out where my playlists are.

Please help!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.1

So you would already have been running Music rather than iTunes. Copy the most recent dated library package from the Previous Music Libraries folder into your ~/Music/Music folder, rename the Music Library.musiclibrary package as Music Library {Broken}.musiclibrary then remove the date from the library you copied in it becomes Music Library.musiclibrary. If you don't see the .musiclibrary file extensions then ignore that detail, they'll be hidden don't add an extra one. Finally use the option-start-Music method and choose the newly renamed library. Hopefully this time it will be correctly updated.

Alternatively restore a copy of your .musiclibrary package from Time Machine or any other backup you might have from a recent date when you library was working correctly back in macOS 14.5. Again use the option-start-Music method to explicitly select the restored database.
