Why is my Mac's playlist not syncing to my iPhone and iPad?

I created a new playlist on a brand new Mac and although new songs now appear on my phone and iPad, the new play list does not. Older playlists are there and music I downloaded at the same time as creating a new playlist also appear, but not the new playlist. I have tried turning the synch button on and off

Do you have a subscription to the Apple Music service? If not review your sync selections in Finder. Assuming you do look at the playlist in the Songs view, and enable the iCloud Status column. If the playlist contains any tracks that are ineligible for your cloud library then the playlist won't be added to it. This could be tracks that are marked variously duplicate, error, ineligible, or removed. Smart playlists that depend on other playlists are also excluded from your cloud library.
