Music Playlists not Syncing with iPad

Running MacOS 13.4.1 on my MacBook Pro and iPadOS 16.5.1 on my 7th Generation iPad. Playlists are not syncing from MacBook Pro to iPad.

You could try manually manage your music through the Music app on your Mac rather than syncing.

How are you syncing? With a subscription or without? Using Finder?

I have synced in the past using the Finder. I do not have a subscription to Music. My songs used in Music are on an external drive.

It looks like I should consolidate library on external hard drive with Macintosh HD drive. There seems to be ample room on HD so will try that.
