Stolen iPad 10 (Blue) with AppleCare adding warranty or insurance

My iPad was stolen and I was wondering if I can still add a warranty or insurance on it to get it replace (blue, generation 10). I already pay AppleCare but they said there was nothing they could do. Somehow they were able to turn off the findmy on the iPad and I haven’t seen it since. I hadn’t had it for 2 months yet.

No. Nobody will offer insurance for already-stolen products; you'd need to buy a replacement at the regular price.

Niel wasn't being rude – just stating a fact.

If you could buy theft insurance after a theft happened, why would anyone pay for it beforehand? Pretty soon the insurance companies would be collecting premiums only when thefts happened, and then only when the cost of getting insurance after the fact was less than the value of the payout.

In other words, "lose money on every sale and make it up in volume."

If I can figure that out in 5 seconds flat, don't you think that the people who work for insurance companies – who think about how to make more money all day – can, too?

For the benefit of other users who may have a similar predicament - and clarify for all...

While AppleCare+ is an insurance product, for iPad this coverage only extends to non-warranty faults and accidental damage. You must be "produce" the defective/damaged item to which the plan relates, to Apple, for a claim to be honoured.

By contrast, AppleCare+ for iPhone does offer optional extended coverage for loss or theft - at additional cost. This optional policy extension is not available for iPad.

In all instances, the AppleCare+ plan must exist prior to a qualifying incident occurring. As with all insurance products, you cannot purchase cover retrospectively.

In most countries, you have up to 60-days from initial purchase of the device to purchase an AppleCare+ plan - after which the option to purchase this cover has been lost.
