Latest Numbers table version not opening on Mac

In December 2024, I last edited my table, which I usually don't save. There were no problems before, I found this open table and added data. But in January 2025, all the tables in Numbers closed, and when I restarted the computer, this particular table wouldn't open. Only its earlier versions (June, August 2024) open.

I'm running Numbers 14.3 on a brand new mini M4pro with Sequoia 15.2,; I cannot open any Numbers files made last year on the same machine! nor those made on an iMac M3 running 15.1.1. "file isn't in the correct format" is the common warning even for Numbers files made and saved to desktop in the same day on either machine.

what's the trick to getting my files back?

So I build the Numbers save it, go back to the saved file for another look and; "file cannot be opened because it is "in an incorrect format and or maybe corrupted or damaged". how can Apple call this a successful product?

has anyone been able to patch this mess?

I have seen on line recommendations to read them with Microsoft Excel, save as PDF and use Numbers to read the PDF.

Is this a crash between Number Versions, an iOS collision, a platform problem?

ANYBODY?
