Viewing favourite photos in Hidden album

Prior to the disastrous recent update to iOS which totally ruined the photos app, it used to be possible to view the hidden album and restrict to only favourited photos. It seems this is no longer possible, as the only way to view favourited photos is by going to the favourites album, which doesn’t show hidden photos.

Is this accurate or am I missing something?

It is a bit tricky now.

After installing the recent update, my Hidden album was empty. I had to hide all photos again, that I did not want to pop up unexpectedly.

The filter is still there - it has been moved to the menu with the arrows in lower left corner of the Hidden album. And it has still included the option to filter for Favorites. But once I made one of the hidden photos a Favorite, the filter options vanished. The filter came back, after closing the Hidden album and opening it again. Have you tried that?

léonie and jingham23,

I didn't know about filters, in Hidden. I didn't even know I had favorites in Hidden! I tried it, and the filter options didn't vanish for me when I made a hidden picture a favorite. I'm in iOS 18.2.1.

Since my iCloud has (mostly) only favorites, I hadn't played with the filters. I see that Filters is available in just the same way in the main Library view, in Albums, in People, and maybe everywhere, so it's possible to restrict views to favorites in any view you want!

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.
