Photos missing from Favorites album after iOS update

The latest photo album update is really really bad.

i keep losing my favorites and spend a lot of time trying to find a photo i only needed 2 seconds to find before.

We need the old photo album or make favorites up and first

please fix that

Where is my Favorites album? I have an iPhone 15 plus with iOS 18.1 (i don't have the storage to update at the moment) and my favorites album is simply gone. I've checked the "customize appearance" button in the photos app and there isn't even an option to have it shown. I can still favorite photos, but they go nowhere. I had to make a personal album for them, which just seems ridiculous to me when they still let me favorite photos. I didn't have this problem with the big iOS 18 update, it seems to have happened randomly a couple weeks ago (after I had updated to iOS 18.1 but not immediately). Can this be solved by the 18.2 update, or do I need to contact Apple directly? Or is this some bigger issue?

Viewing favourite photos in Hidden album Prior to the disastrous recent update to iOS which totally ruined the photos app, it used to be possible to view the hidden album and restrict to only favourited photos. It seems this is no longer possible, as the only way to view favourited photos is by going to the favourites album, which doesn’t show hidden photos. Is this accurate or am I missing something?

Favourites album Hi guys. I have been favouriting ♥️ occasional photos for a long time, and they have always immediately showed up in the favourites album (iPhone 12 mini, iOS 16.1.2). About three months ago this stopped happening. All photos favourited after this point have not been appearing in the favourites album, but the older ones are still there. Any ideas? I do not recall altering any settings. Is this a glitch? Many thanks in advance for your guidance!!

You can customize your photos app as you like by scrolling to the bottom to customize.
