Why is the paint peeling on my Apple Watch Series 10?

I’ve been using it for a month, and I’ve noticed that the paint on the back of my Apple Watch 10 is progressively peeling off. Every few days, a new spot appears where the paint first forms a circle and then falls off, exposing the base material of the watch. So far, I have five affected areas and two more that are about to peel, making a total of seven.

It’s odd because this part only comes into contact with my skin, and I’ve always been careful not to expose the watch to water. I take it off to wash my hands, shower, or do any activity involving water.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? It seems like a manufacturing defect, but I wonder if it could be a reaction to sweat or some other factor.

I came across another person’s case who has had the watch for a longer time, and they’re experiencing the same issue. The peeling is more advanced in their case:

Apple are notoriously reluctant to do anything about cosmetic faults and will probably point out the scratches in that area.

Putting in a warranty claim at a store or at https://support.apple.com is next step but don't expect much support unless it's a known problem.
