"How to map/keymap/split a keyboard to play different instruments in Logic Pro iOS"

Greetings Experts!

I'm new (color me green) to Logic Pro, iOS, MIDI, MPE, DAW synths... Ok. Ok. Pretty much everything in digital music. But I'm a pro when it comes to using Netflix! Yay.

For the last week, I've been trying to figure out if I can map (keymap/split) my keyboard to play different instruments. For example, I want to play a flute using the first two octaves on my keyboard. And play a cello on the last two octaves on my keyboard.

Here's a screenshot and a video from a YouTube of what I mean.

Multiple instruments mapped onto a single keyboard.

First of all, is it possible? Second, how? If not, can I get some kind of plugin in Logic Pro to be able to keymap?

Finally, if Logic Pro can't do it, can someone suggest an app for iOS that does? Free, powerful, lots of sounds, etc would be great! I'm told it can't be done in Garageband. Sadly.

Thank you for your time and efforts in my musical journey. (Which so far is just walking in a small circle in the middle of the dining room. Until dinner.)

Cheers!

Hi,

I just covered this in another thread: rout the lowest note of a chord to separa… - Apple Community

Practically speaking, why don't you use 2 separate software instruments (with the same patch/preset) to accomplish the job? You can create a key limit for both instrument tracks within the Track Inspector and so long as they are record armed, you should be good to go.

Hope this helps,

Yay! It's that Logic Pro Guy. We're saved!

Literally. hahaha Thank you Mr. Grey for sharing your time and expertise. I really appreciate it. Helping a stranger is a powerful act of kindness. On the other hand, you may be thinking I'm Taylor Swift incognito because some football players are aggressively jealous. Rest assured, I'm not. Whew.

I look forward to finally downloading Logic Pro and using your instructions. This one ability was really the one must-have feature. I learned it's not possible in GarageBand so here I am in Logic Pro.

Cheers!
