AirPrint not working after iOS 18.2 update

This is maddening. I have a Canon and Brother printer and an iPhone 15. I use air-print all the time! Or I used to… Neither will air-print since I downloaded 18.2! I’ve tried everything to connect them with no success. Frustrating! My keyboards are acting up too!

I would like to know this information in advance of downloading the iOS update or at least have the choice to uninstall it if it’s causing problems like this!

Airprint worked perfectly fine right up until the moment I performed the update on my phone. I’m simply expressing my frustration as I’ve spent hours with both printers, trying to reconnect them with no success. how would you explain it working perfectly well for both printers before the update?

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

I just found a suggestion in regard to doing a hard reset to correct the problem:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button and wait for device to restart.
  5. Sign into your device.

I can now print with Pro & iPhone.

I have tried precautionary back ups for decades now. Sometimes I get no backup verification. It varies from update to update. The only time those OSX backups have been problematic is with the 2019 iMac Pro. After nagging support for an entire year, I received an $18,000 refund. I was dumb and thought I kept needing upgrades! After that much effort, with 6 support people, I would call us far from even. BTW, with an ongoing issue, try to maintain telephone contact with a certain person (or at least within a certain time of day). Otherwise you can be routed to the Philippines, India or China — and it takes time for them to review your case, or (typical of non-US training) escalate to a more knowledgeable person. Yes! I’ve been through the wringer. Five exploding-head emojis.
