Trouble with iPhone unavailable

I'm well aware that apple support already has instructions to how recover and open the iPhone. My problem is that my 13 pro max won't go into recovery mode even though I've done everything correctly(when its supposed to show a laptop on the screen it just does a factory reset, and yes I've tried holding the side button until recovery mode activates yet it still does a reset.) and when I try to connect it with my laptop it wont even recognize it. On the other hand when I try it with a different iPhone perhaps a 13 it does everything how apple support shows. Watched lots of different tutorials but sadly found no solutions. Losing hope so this is my last resort.
