Pages app issues on new MacBook Air

I just bought a new MacBook Air and a “dummies” manual, almost specifically to get the Pages app up and running.

When neither the manual, Apple help, or YouTube videos on the topic provided the answers to what should have been simplicity I called the Apple help line, twice. They did help, thought I was set and ready to go, recommenced setting up a CV off a pages template and now it’s more massive pitfalls…….

Huge gaps between paragraphs, blank pages appearing out of nowhere, font changes that should be simple just causing grief, for god’s sake Apple is meant to be east and intuitive.

I then yielded and almost signed up for a CV app then realised that I’m probably just handing information over to unknowns.

I want to stay with pages, I hope to dedicate plenty of time to becoming a “power user” as the year goes on…….. at the moment I just want to put it out there my feelings are that Apple help is massively deficient and makes too many assumptions on the skill levels of users.

So I’m looking at employing a geek to help me out with the short term issues and getting this CV sorted but really, there’s little doubt that Cupertino has heard this story a million times but still leaves the novice in a horrendous bog of frustration and many times, verbal expletives.

Thankyou

Reference: Pages User Guide for Mac - Apple Support

This is neither Apple Support, nor a job board where anyone can be hired or share personal information to that end. We are international volunteer Mac users. Your best bet is to plug into the nearest Mac User Group in your locale, and see if anyone there has Pages knowledge and can help you. You should also check with the nearest Apple Store to see if they offer any Pages training for new Mac owners.

Pages offers some CV templates in its Template Chooser -> Resumes, which should be the first thing you see when you launch Pages. In the past, I have always created my own CV documents without using a provided CV template from any word-processing application. One's particulary industry and career accomplishments may require you to do the same.

Thanks for your reply VikingOSX! So, I armed myself with a renewed enthusiasm this morning more determined than ever. YouTube running through the TV, a pen and notebook, handbook, coffee, and the like. Made a lot of progress- still finding plenty of pitfalls and mysteries but it’s something I guess!

Shall take your suggestions on board, thanks again!
