iPhone 16 Upgrade: Backup vs Fresh Install

I am considering buying an iPhone 16 to upgrade from an iPhone X. Is it recommended to reinstall from a backup of existing phone (which obviously saves a lot of time), or to install everything from scratch (to eliminate any software/app glitches)? Thanks.

It would really depend on the data you have. Much data currently resides in iCloud, so you are just installing apps, and the backup has the data links to iCloud. If you start from scratch, you would be taking a great deal of time setting up if you have a lot of apps and data. I would restore from a backup. If something goes wrong, you always have the option of restoring the device to factory and setting up as new to remove any issues. I've been doing all my devices from a backup and have not encountered a problem in the last several iPhone series.
