HomePod 2 skipping, pausing and turning up and down volume

My HomePod 2 started having issues with pausing randomly, Siri activating and volume down all the time. Whether I connect it to Apple Tv 4k or play songs on iPhone, but the problem remains the same. Is it because of the recent update 18.2? Coz its started to happen after the update, previously it was working fine till then.

I am based in India and yesterday I went to Apple authorised service centre, they were not able to understand the issue and told me it can't be repaired, and you have to replace the HomePod 2, which is like buying a new HomePod.

Need some help with this, finding what is the real issue.

indeed mine is doing the same. less since the update but irritatingly starts 30 seconds or so in to a song then goes back to the beginning.

none of the advice on the site so far has been helpful

My HomePod 2 has been having intermittent skipping issues and volume issues as well. It seems to have started since updating to IOS 18.2. Sometimes unplugging the HomePods and restarting seems to fix

the issue temporarily. Still trying different things.

I have opened my HomePod 2 and disconnected the touch panel cable which seems to fix my problem permanently. The only issue with this is that the touch panel won’t work. I am ok with it as my HomePod 2 was having continuous issue with ghost touches.

To find permanent solution, you can disconnect the highlighted touch panel cable. It will disable the touch panel and won't cause any ghost touches further.
