I don't know how long they had with your passcode, and your Apple ID credentials, to root around in your phone. Securing your Apple Account after the fact would not automatically keep the thieves from using account names and passwords that they learned while they had the credentials needed to ransack your phone.

If they had both your passcode and your Apple Account credentials, you have to assume that anything that you had stored on that phone, including, but not limited to,

• Debit and credit cards registered in Apple Wallet
• Account names and passwords memorized by the phone
• Wi-Fi passwords memorized by the phone
• Personal data like contacts, notes, and photos

could be compromised.

As for 2(b), they could have tried to ransack your data while they had access to the phone and to your Apple Account. You may want to change the passwords for any account whose password the iPhone had been remembering for you - just in case. E.g., if you had a Microsoft Account and the phone was logged into it for your Microsoft apps, then change that password in case that account was compromised.
