The 18.2 update has totally ruined email. It is making it impossible to know if I am seeing all my essential emails as it is categorizing them in a very confusing way. If I am travelling or at work without access to my desktop -I am definitely going to miss important emails. I hate this feature and cannot find a way to opt out of it.

Wouldn’t know where to start. First comment I’ve posted on here and because it seemed related to my issue I replied. Apologies from the newbie. Been on to Apple three times about this now and basically they’re in the dark. Had responses ranging from “That’s how it’s supposed to operate” to “wait for the next update” and “delete all your mail accounts and reinstall.” Well that last one definitely isn’t happening. Thank you for your response!

Categories is turned off and still nothing. If I log into my mail in safari I have “x” emails. I typically get 10-20 a day, but in the mail app my most recent email was Friday. Also since the update iTunes isn’t syncing properly. All my music that wasn’t purchased from iTunes isn’t syncing properly.

Music not purchased from iTunes has never synced between devices, it only can be uploaded from the computer that holds the iTunes library, UNLESS you subscribe to Apple Music.

Turn off categorization: Open Mail, tap on the ⋯⃝ in the upper right, and check List View.

Yep! Problem solved. The solution has been provided many times, yet instead of reading to find the answer, some think that posting the same question is the answer. Once again you have provided the correct solution.

I don’t know why Apple automatically changes everything with updates. Can’t they just turn them off so people can choose to turn them on if they want them? I

Because Apple didn’t turn them on no one would know the feature was added; after all nobody reads release notes to find out how to use new features. Hopefully once they discover something that works differently they may go back and read the release notes, but from experience they just come to this forum and rant about it.

What are you trying to turn off? Automatic updates? Settings>General>Software Updates>Off.

Or do you want to turn off categories in Mail? Tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the main Mail screen. Select "List" view.

No. You are not getting it. Updates are fine and needed. but why do they automatically have all these things turned on so that you get a major shock especially if you’ve got something like ADHD or a visual impairment or you suddenly cannot work for weeks because you can’t work with the new system. A lot of these things you can turn off, so why don’t they just leave them off? And let people add them if and when they choose to add them. Apple is actually moving away from helping people with disabilities by these updates.

I’ve done that. There are Soooooo Msny things they have just automatically changed & with a visual impairment and ADHD this has seriously put my work to a halt causing havoc with my company. I’m a sole trader and work on my own. I’ve now spent days trying to sort out all the problems. It’s not just one thing. It’s way too many!!

Apple for some reason is refusing to add my last post. There was nothing in it that would warrant removing it. Censorship, that’s the last straw for me

I can think of several reasons it was removed, but the most likely is it contained too much privileged personal medical data. In the US it violated the HIPAA law that protects medical data.

There was absolutely nothing in it such as private data. Since the update my hearings aids no longer work with iPhone using apps etc. . And yes it’s set up properly. I don’t even have problems with this with a £23 smart watch. So yet another issue to resolve when it should just work easy as pie. There are some very useful things in the new update I’m discovering but the bad things are outweighed currently by any good. If I can’t get the hearing aids to work that’s it. I’m done with Apple. The cynic I am wonders if it’s done on purpose because of their new hearing aid ear buds. Hopefully this is not the case. It would be good to know if others have this issue too. And if anyone has resolved it. This is yet another massive problem for my work/my livelihood. This is very serious for me.

My emails are going to the promotions folder after iOS 18.2 update
