Calendar locking issue on Mac OS Sequoia 15.2

I can open Calendar and it looks completely normal. I can edit an event, as long as all I change are the date and alerts. If I try to edit the text, it locks the app. Cannot add a new event, as trying to edit the "New Event" text locks the app. In an attempt to localize the problem to a particular account, I have turned off the account calendars, one by one, until there are none checked. Still cannot add a new event to the calendar. Just started today. Running Mac OS Sequoia 15.2 (24C101).

I have the same issue when trying to create new appointments. Calendar becomes unresponsive and requires a force quit. Grrrrrr. Running MacOS 15.2 on 2019 Mac Book Pro with 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 CPU.

UPDATE: Sorry…no resolution. I spent hours on the phone with second-tier Apple support. We tested lots of different troubleshooting steps without success.

  • Started in safe mode - no change
  • Reinstalled OS 15.2 - no change.
  • Removed associated LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons - no change
  • Exported calendars, then deleted them from Calendar, then restarted - no change
  • Creating a new user account - Calendar does not freeze while editing in a new user account. But I cannot begin to imagine the work involved in moving everything from my current account to a new one.

Apple support team seems quite puzzled by this bug. It definitely coincides with OS update to Sequoia 15.2. Calendar is not a stand-alone app and cannot be removed and reinstalled. Support tech escalated the case and sent process log to “engineers”. Presently waiting for callback.

I have been able to add & edit all the events I need USING MY iPHONE. The changes and new events show up on my MacBook Pro, but I still cannot edit them. Extremely frustrating. I have an older iMac (27-inch, Late 2013, macOS 10.15.7 (19H2026)), which also syncs with iCloud. There are ZERO problems with Calendar on that machine. This is only happening on my MacBook Pro running Mac OS Sequoia 15.2 (24C101).
