Background desktop image MM M4 16/256 [cpu warmer]

Hi, I bought a Mac mini m4 3 days ago. I noticed that as soon as I turned it on, looking at the cleanmymac monitor, with the computer idle, the Background process uses 13% of the CPU and the temperature rises above 70°, it happens if I set the background to continuous or even 12 hours. The situation normalizes with a static background without any rotation. Process stopped and temperature 39/40°. I'm just writing to report it.

1) The Screensaver and Dynamic Wall Paper use a lot of CPU and RAM resources.

The only way to stop that, is to turn off the Screensaver and use a Static Wall Paper.

2) CleanMyMac is considered junk-wake by most experienced Mac users in this forum.

You need to completely Uninstall CleanMyMac as per the developers web site directions.

3) The use of third-party Anti-Vrius, Cleaning or Protecting junk-ware is not recommended or necessary.

den.thed is correct, installing CleanMyMac is at best worthless as it does nothing that Mac OS does not already do. In addition, CMM has a very long history of creating more harm than good. My recommendation is to find the developers uninstall instructions and then unistall. After it has been uninstalled, then download and run FindAnyFile and have it look for:

  • CleanMyMac
  • MacPaw

and have it move any left over files to the Trash and empty the Trash.

Going forward, please never ever installed any of the following types of third party apps:

  • Antivirus
  • Cleaning
  • Security
  • VPN
  • Maintenance

The only thing Mac OS needs in order to remain stable, fast and secure is simply keep it up-to-date and restart your computer about 1x per week. Other than that just enjoy it and please leave Mac OS alone!

Another thing to avoid are "Memory Cleaners".

The Mac is designed to use most of its RAM even when idling so it looks (incorrectly) as though there won't be enough when you do anything intensive.

This unfounded fear has led to the creation of "Memory Cleaners" that will restore some of your memory.

It looks good when you see the amount that has been recovered but it is completely unnecessary and possibly harmful.

Thanks everyone for the answers and clarifications. I honestly thought that this stuff about the background image that uses resources had been overcome, it has always existed, I had it on other Macs too, but never seen such high CPU temperatures. Anyway I set static background and everything is normal. I didn't imagine that cleanmymac had this reputation, honestly I only use it for the monitor, I don't have much to clean or delete.

Thanks again!
