Apple Intelligence Dramatically Delays Notifications

I've noticed no delay in notifications with Apple Intelligence running on my iPhone 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max. To assume this is an issue all are experiencing and waiting for a solution from Apple doesn't seem the best course of action.

As this is a user to user only forum and you aren't speaking with anyone from Apple, we have no clue on what Apple may be working on or not. You can provide feedback to Apple if you'd like them to know you're having this issue here --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

One thing you might want to do (something I do after EVERY iOS update) is Force Restart your iPhone --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support (CA)

Another thing to consider is if you use VPN on your iPhone. Unless required by an employer or school, they can and often do cause issues with iPhone and are not needed. So if you use a VPN on your iPhone, consider turning it off or better yet, remove the VPN profile completely and see if that helps.

Hi!

I am experiencing some delays with push notifications delivered to my iPhone (16), whenever I enable Apple Intelligence. I use work-related apps that rely on push notifications to be received at the time of delivery (for example Microsoft Authenticator) and I'm noticing that if I enable Apple Intelligence the notifications are delayed of several minutes! The minute I turn off Apple Intelligence everything goes back to normal.

As a result I've had to use my new iPhone solely without Apple Intelligence, since push notifications are essential in a day-to-day life. I'll be honest it is quite disappointing, as the iPhone 16 it's been mainly sold with the Apple Intelligence slogan in mind.

Any timeline on resolving this urgent issue?

Unfortunately, no one on here can help you. This is a user-to-user forum, and nobody but Apple’s users and moderators read these posts.

But, just letting you know, you should try doing what lobsterghost1 suggested and force restart your iPhone. First press and quickly release the volume up button. Then, press and quickly release the volume down button. Then press and hold the side button. Make sure that you do not let go of the power button when invited to power off. Just hold it until the Apple logo appears.

It appears that an Apple engineer made a generic response. They may, or may not find that Apple Intelligence is an issue. Based on that thread, the issue does sound like it's with third-party apps.

In looking at some of the links you reference, they seem to point to delays with apps completely out of Apple's control. If your delays are with 3rd party apps, you need to contact the app developers of those apps as Apple has no control over them at all.

But again, I'm not having any delay issues with notifications on my phones.

Most of those discussions are about beta version of iOS. Beta versions, by definition, have bugs.

Apple should help out on this, notifications are more important than anything else, it's cool if I can generate an emoji of a taco in space but if I'm don't receive real-time notifications from my doorbell we're going backwards!

Honestly, there haven't been huge numbers of people complaining here so if it is a bug, it's a rare one. Or, there's something wrong with your particular setup (far more likely).

If the delayed notification is from a third-party app, as your post seems to indicate, delete the app and re-install it. Also, any apps made by Meta may have problems no matter what you do. Meta can't seem to keep up with things these days.

I should have noticed most of the links referred to discussions about Beta.

I am having the same problem. Siri has stopped announcing my notifications as well, which is really bad as I am using an AI receptionist and would like to turn on the "Silence Unknown Caller"

Thanks for the post. I am constantly using DUO Mobile at work to bounce between servers and the delay(13 seconds) was becoming unbearable. I will update my ticket at DUO with this solution. Thanks!
