Hearing Test Missing for AirPods Pro 2

I have an iPhone XR running iOS 18.1 and air pod pro 2. I can’t find hearing test in systems under air pod pro . I bought for hearing assistance because hearing aids irritated my ears. It says 2nd generation on the box. What can I do?

FWIW. I don't have an iPhone XR to test with, but with my iPhone SE 3rd gen (running 18.1), I can find the hearing test at:

Make sure your AirPod Pros 2 are updated to the latest firmware. Please see below:

In order to use the hearing test and hearing aid function, three things must be true.

  1. Your iPhone must be updated to 18.1. Here are instructions to update. Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
  2. Your AirPd Pros 2 must be updated to their latest firmware, which is 7B19. Here are instructions to update. About firmware updates for AirPods - Apple Support
  3. You Apple Account must be registered in a country that supports the hearing aid feature. Check your country here.  AirPods Pro 2 - Hearing Health Feature Availability - Apple

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max registered in the UK I’ve tried all the solutions but still am not able to see hearing aid test. Desperate to use it , Hope apple can help.

Apple can’t help until the MHRA give approval for the AirPod Pro 2s to be allowed to be used in the UK.

Have you updated to 18.1 or 18.2? If you have the only way you can currently get them working is to set them up with an older iPad or iPhone running an IOS older than 18.1.

My sister's iPhone 12 had auto updated to 18.1 so I set hers up on an iPad mini running IOS 17.7.1 a few days ago. The same IOS I am using.

That’s very helpful , thanks. I am using software 18.1.1 is it possible to downgrade this and go back to an earlier version. If so how.

For the first time ever Apple are now preventing you doing that. The only way to set them up is with an iPad or iPhone running an older IOS than 18.1. I never upgrade until the bugs are ironed out which is why I was able to use 17.7.1 on my 15 Pro Max.
