Apple Intelligence for Messages Broken

Has anyone figured out how to get Apple Intelligence working for Messages (summaries and smart replies)? I have AI enabled (iPhone, iPad, Mac) with the standard 18.1 release and other AI functions are working (notably, summaries in Mail). AI functions briefly worked in Messages but now it is gone / broken.

iMessage badge count incorrect on Mac mini/Ventura after removing messages on iPhone Received three iMessages in a single thread; iMessage badge count went correctly up from zero to tree on both my Mac mini and my iPhone. Deleted the thread on my iPhone; messages were correctly removed from my Mac mini too (I have iCloud messages enabled on both devices). Badge count correctly disappeared on the iPhone, but stayed at three on the Mac mini. Quiting iMessages on both devices and opening them did not resolve the issue. Selecting "View -> Unread Messages" in iMessage on the Mac mini correctly showed no messages, but the badge count stays at three nevertheless. Mac mini on Venture 13.0, iPhone Xs on iOS 16.0.

SMS Messages View Changed on Macbook. Can't See Inbox. Only messages to single individual at a time Messages view suddenly changed after IOS update. Using messages on iphone and macbook. Have never had issues. View is now just messages with a single person and icons of the individuals I've messaged with most recently (running vertically on the left). Can't get to inbox to view recent messages. Can only select one of the icons and see history with that person. Have checked settings and views. Have restarted multiple times. Help, please.
