New Magic Mouse USB-C Does Not Scroll

I received my new Magic Mouse USB-C model, running 3.1.4. The issue is that it does not scroll up or down when swiping on the surface. I tried it on 2 macbooks. The mouse does not scroll. I can click and point, but not scroll. My old magic mouse scrolls fine.

The USB-C Magic Mouse gestures do NOT work on 14.6.1 and 14.7.1. I tried both versions.

One needs to upgrade to 15.1.

But for people who cannot upgrade this is annoying.

Apple please post a work around for existing users so that older versions of MacOS will recognize the new USB-C Magic mouse gestures.

Is there configuration file one can add?

Glad I Googled this. It was driving me mad. I bought the lightning cable version last week, took it back to swap over today sighting the new change / 14 day exchange, etc. The 'old' one worked, the new one doesn't. Nor does the trackpad. I'm off for a refund tomorrow on both. I have an older white one that works just fine. I'm on a 2021 MacBook pro, 15.01, Sequoia. Seems like a massive downgrade. I'd rather have put up with the lightening cable. I bet that one has been sent off to Apple to be recycled : (

Does scrolling work? My experience is that both tracking and scrolling don't work properly on Bluetooth, but everything works perfectly while plugged in. This is on MacOS 15.1.

When I try to scroll on Bluetooth it looks like it's going back and forth between vertical and horizontal scrolling. Also adjusting the trackpad settings for tracking speed doesn't seem to do anything, it just uses the default settings.

As soon as I plug it in using a USB C cable, everything works perfectly. I exchanged it yesterday at the Apple Store and had the exact same experience so I just returned it until they get it fixed.

The Apple Store employees didn't even realize that they need MacOS 15.1. This seems like a pretty bungled launch.

I think the fact that so many people have this problem and the actual problem is putting out a product requiring yesterday's OS (for no transparent or logical reason) is sad. Sadder than that is the fact that Apple does nothing about it! Do they expect people to buy a simple mouse and then go home and upgrade the OS for it? Just because this one has USB-C? Cuz otherwise is no different that the older one...

Same -My battery mouse is still working better than 3 other old lightening mice that wore out ! Returning this USB-C mouse and getting a used but newer lightening version. Apple is only selling the new mouse that won’t work with its newest OSs ? Can’t get a lightening mouse (that actually works) new ?

That’s either really shady or a total mess. I have a new MacBook Pro and didn’t even know there’s a new OS. Really bad form

Definitely USB-C does not scroll with earlier OS - I can get it to point and click with Monterey (12.6) but not scroll- only use the side bar for scrolling, and am unable to update OS on this computer.

I have tried all of the patches described but to no avail.

I take delivery of a new Mac mini next week, and this was the mouse that Apple shipped with it, so will update if it suddenly starts working with OS15.1 or above. If it doesn't, straight back for the returns!!!
