Apple Intelligence stuck on "Preparing" status for more than 10 hours

On Day 3 and still waiting for it to stop preparing. I am beginning to think this is a ploy by Apple to get me to upgrade from an M1 to a M4.

Just to add my voice to the group, same issue here. Stuck "preparing" since the day MacOS 15.1 was released. None of the suggestions in this thread or elsewhere fix it. Tried multiple wifi networks, restarting a million times, toggling the language, toggling the Siri voice, etc.

Stu's approach worked for me. I was stuck on "Preparing" for three days. I verified that Apple Intelligence was downloaded under General -> Storage -> MacOS.

I noticed that the Language field in my Apple Intelligence & Siri setting was blank. When I selected English (United States), I received the following: "Settings Error, Extension process Siri exited."

I verified settings under General -> Language & Region. I have United States listed for the Region and English (US) - Primary listed for Preferred Languages. I tried rebooting several times, to no avail.

After reading Stu's post, I switched Siri Language to Mandarin - Taiwan (received the error that AI is not yet available, but at least did not get the Siri exited error). I was then able to switch language to English (United States) without the Siri error and was immediately notified that Apple Intelligence was ready to go.

⇡ Well, the only suggestion is to simply keep trying.

I know you had followed all of our suggestions listed amongst the many pages of this thread.

As you have discovered, you are on a waiting list that does not automatically update until you actually do something.

Have you tried another Wi-Fi network as I had suggested a while ago?

Same issue its been 24 hours but I still can’t use this so called apple intelligence

I’ve updated 18.1 on 15 pro and I can turn on the apple intelligence but it doesn’t work yet! Why?

I am always in a loop with these two tabs. When i tap Get Apple Intelligence, the Set up Now pop out. Then i tap set up now. Then no reaction…

Apple M1: Here’s a sequence of steps that worked for me:

1. Change the language from English to a different language.

2. Listen to one of the voices.

3. If your Siri is disabled, enable Siri requests. If it’s enabled, toggle it off and back on.

4. Change the language back to English and select one of the other voices.

5. Apple Intelligence is now activated!

If this doesn’t work, I also deleted Siri and Dictation history before attempting the steps above. I’m not sure if that had any effect.

I signed up for the beta, but it never got activated. Perhaps we have that in common?

It was still stuck on my Mac for more than 24 hours, and I contacted Apple Support this morning. I was told that nothing was wrong and that "it needs to understand your daily routine and usual activities, it needs a little bit of time to have the data documented in order for the responses/features to be relevant to your daily activities so it should be ready by tomorrow most likely".

Kalifa2134. Change your language in Siri to English(New Zealand) and then once it settles down, change it to English (United States). I think preparing status will go away and you will have AI active.

II waited over 24 hours before I finally got it to work. I tried charging the cable, changing the region and languages, and restarting the Mac a few times. Finally, it worked!

I suggested to switch to another WiFi network. 🛜

Also, lobsterghost1 suggested toggling off your VPN if it’s on.

I was able to install it just fine after I wiped the drive and did a fresh install of Sequoia.

This thread has reached 9 pages and what I have learned from reading is that one person’s success does not guarantee the same outcome for others.

My advice remains the same:

• Check for a Software Update daily.
• Turn off your iPhone daily (to flush its internal data).
• Keep trying.
