iPhone 16 pro screen doesn’t dim to 1 nit

Hi all , I have noticed that my 16 pro doesn’t seem to dim screen to 1 nit. I have iPhone 14 Pro as well and comparing them 14 pro looks the same if not dimmer than my 16 pro. Anyone noticed or have the same problem ?

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

In settings go to accessibility->display and text size->reduce white point

you can also add it to control center by holding on an empty space, tapping add control and all the way at the bottom is the vision accessibility section with the reduce white point toggle. Not sure if it takes it all the way down to 1 nit but it’s noticeably darker.

With all due respect, I am beginning to suspect that you are misunderstanding each other. I am clearly writing that I am checking the settings and behavior of the phone that I am holding in my hand, and you are suggesting that someone else is changing the settings - what sense does that make in the context of what I am describing? Unfortunately, store employees (in Poland) are very incompetent in terms of knowledge about devices and software. Some do not even know what Nit is. I have encountered this in an authorized service. So asking questions other than the price of the device is often a waste of time.

The ambient light is very high, as usual in a store.I am comparing my device with the iPhone 16 Pro & Pro Max exhibition device(s). Mine behaves differently in terms of screen brightness setting, similar to other users who have reported this phenomenon. It is therefore possible to suspect that I have a device that does not match the manufacturer's description (and the phones at the exhibition can be considered as such), which should lead to some explanations. In my opinion, this is not right and I will pursue this topic.

Just as a general point of reference for future visitors to this thread. When I turn down Auto Brightness at this path,

Now you are one nit of brightness.

Don’t do this in bright light as you will not be able to view your screen to reset the settings. You’ve been warned.

I have been following the discussion and the one thing which comes to my mind, at least, is why it matters if an iPhone goes all the way down to one nit? It would make the screen brightness so low as to render it, at least to me, not pleasant to view.

"With all due respect. You’re talking about a product that is on exhibition at a store that Apple is directly responsible for. If you want to talk about a personal device, then don’t confuse the issue with iPhones on display at a retailer."

And what should I compare my phone to? To a cup of coffee in the store next door? With all due respect.

Of course I will compare it to exhibition phones of the same model. This is so obvious that I'm surprised I even have to explain it.
