Can I save iPhone backups to an ssd?

If I do a backup of my iPhone on my Mac, can I connect an SSD and go to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup in Finder and just drag the iPhone backup onto my SSD to save space on my Mac? And if I ever need to do a restore on my iPhone, I can drag the backup back to its original spot from my SSD.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.6
