iPhone 16 Picky about Charging

Any reason why my new iPhone 16 won't charge or connect to my 2017 iMac using the Apple supplied cords in the box? Also tried a typical USB charging cable, and it does not function. The only way I can charge the iPhone is plugging it into a wall with a new Apple cube, or putting it on a charging station.

Found iPhones to be picky over the years, but this is ridiculous. None of the aftermarket cables I have will charge the phone.

It's likely because you may not have established communication between the iPhone and Mac. The cable supplied with your new phone is a Data and Power cable. If all you want to do is charge your iPhone a Power ONLY cable would be the way to go. Or, open Finder on your mac and sync your phone with your Mac at least once and it will likely charge going forward.
