CarPlay worked fine in IOS 17.x on and an iPhone 15. Now, under IOS 18.0.1, it works, but if you are on a phone call and receive a WhatsApp message, the CarPlay app will crash, resulting in disconnection from the car (though the phone call will continue). It happens every time, even after erasing the car on the app (and the phone in the car) and resetting the phone.

I can confirm the bug exists, and it is not a Whatsapp issue. On 18.1, the CarPlay crashes on Mazda every time I'm on a phone call and receive a notification, whether from WhatsApp or any other app, including calendar, messages, or WSJ, my shopping apps. Any notification will crash CarPlay and leave the phone working but disconnected from the car.
That sounds like a WhatsApp issue, not necessarily a CarPlay issue. Meta has some very buggy software of late.
