How to remove Activation Lock on a deceased family member's Apple Watch?

Subject: Request to Remove Activation Lock on Apple Watch

Dear Apple Support,

I was given an Apple Watch as a gift from a close family friend who has sadly passed away. Unfortunately, I do not have access to their iCloud account or the password, and I am unable to obtain the original proof of purchase. As the current owner of the watch, I’m seeking assistance in removing the Activation Lock.

I understand the importance of device security and am willing to provide any documentation you may need, including proof of the original owner’s passing and my relationship to them.

I appreciate your help and understanding in resolving this issue.

Sincerely,

Tanjimul

Have a look at this related article about having the Activation Lock removed by Apple, and which documents you may need to provide:

Additional Support - Activation Lock

Then give the official Apple Support a call and explain your situation, in case there is still an option for you that is not listed in the article.

Only the family of that deceased person would be able to contact Apple and request access to his/her Apple Account, necessary to remove the Activation Lock. Apple cannot and will not help you with this since you are neither the original owner nor his/her family. So unless the family is willing to try and get the Watch unlocked, it is now useless and can just be recycled.

Regards.
