Unable to receive or make calls from iPhone post iOS 18 update

Is anyone else having issues with calls failing/not being able to receive calls after iOS 18 update? It starts working again temporarily after switching phone off and on again, but within a few hours, I can't make or receive calls again until I restart the phone. This started immediately after updating to iOS 18.

I am facing similar isssue, as in call fails many times and that call doesn’t get registered in Call history. So sometime when some unknown caller calls, and call fails, I don’t have option to call back as that number is not registered in call history

Hi… Actually Apple is least bothered about this… I have called them and chat with them so many times. Also they have gone through many tests . But they are unable to resolve .

can anyone help and share any details of Apple support. So that I can contact higher authorities?? Please share. Thanks

I am facing the same issue. Most of the time it’s showing “call failed” in my iPhone 13 after the new update. Be it while connecting to Bluetooth, car or just normal conference call , and also during perfectly ordinary calls , it’s no frustrating. And many times the calls are not registered in Recent Call Log!!

I have iPhone 15 pro Max and having the same dropped call issue since i updated to iOS 18. Outgoing calls if i can make any. My voice drops out after 2-5 minutes and unable to reconnect. I have spent a lot time with Verizon tech and a Verizon store. Have tried all the suggested tips, multiple times. My wife has a 15 pro max also and after update to 18 her phone has the same problems now. I have very few bars at home but the phones worked fine until the update. So not just an older phone. Our carrier is Verizon!

I had to do 2 logging sessions and it happened on both of them. The rep told me that she can not inform me when they fix it, they may not list in the bugs fixed so it's just a guessing game. This issues started with my on my iPhone 16pro in 18.1 . She told me no one else is having the issue just me. Coming to this board thats clearly a lie. No help offered just hours and hours of Research and development I had to perform for them for free with zero incentive other than the privilege of paying retail for a iPhone 16pro 512gig that does not work. The issue for me I get call failed soon as i pull the phone away from my face and the back light comes on, I will hear a text on my phone and i pull away to look and it says call failed and the then the number is no longer in my call history. This is horrible because I use my phone for work. So waiting on a call where I dont have the persons number then they ask for some details I need to look up in my phone then it goes call failed and number is not in my call history. I have to hope they call back. No fix, 3 different reps, all blamed previous rep for doing the wrong thing. one rep told me to wipe out my 400 gig of data and use the phone with no apps and not logged into my iCloud. I might as well buy a flip phone or even worse and android. please fix this issue.

It is basically because of the software glitch from iCloud backup which was automatically used for restoring after/ while doing the iOS update.

solution

reset the phone and set up as new phone. Do not use iCloud backup.

you can later use iCloud to restore in app data.

expecting APPLE to fix it without making us do this bill ****.

It would be strange if Apple ignores this as there are various techsites mentioning it as of IOS18, and it seems worse after 18.2.1.

already did a clean install with recover from backup. I simply cannot start from scratch. Too much important info on my phone and losing everything regarding installed apps.

Apple should correct this behavior.

A message I posted prior, and has worked to get around the issue for a few dozen people on AT&T with various iPhone models, try it and if it works. Update the thread. Under Cellular disable “Wi-Fi Calling” and “Wi-Fi Assist”. If it doesn’t help, just enable it again. No harm, no foul .
