AirPods 4 glitching

I have had my AirPods 4 for about a week now. I have two sets of them and they are both having the same problems on my brand new iPad Air and on my iPhone13. They are continuously glitching, turning sound on and off, sounding like a spring boinging during phone calls but not letting me hear the person on the other side of the call, and working and then suddenly the sound goes away while the videos are still playing. They also have to be charged up every 2 1/2 - 3 hours, but take longer to charge up than my old AirPods1 and AirPods2 do. My 1&2 have been fabulous, but are getting old and having a few glitches of their own now. That’s why I upgraded. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?
