[BUG] Airpods Pro 2 - Severe Connectivity Issue - Firmware 6B34 / iOS 17.2.1

Seems like the latest firmware for Airpods Pro 2 (6B34) is breaking connectivity, especially with the right-side airpod (video link: https://youtube.com/shorts/xye-2tulC2E)

  • All the sudden after 30-50 minutes of playtime, the audio stops, the right-side airpod goes into transparency mode, and losing connection with the device (iPhone) while the left one stays connected.
  • Before you suggest solution - nothing will work, doing "Forget this device" / factory reset the airpods / restarting iPhone / fully charge the airpods / wait 20 minutes while charing - NOTHING works, and nothing can fix the issue. This seems like a bug that has to be fixed by Apple.
  • Almost impossible to re-pair the Airpods once you do "forget this device", the case will do a 3 beep sound when trying to pair, and on your iPhone will display a "Connection Failed" with a red exclamation mark, its also doing a pitch-down chiming noise when opening the airpod case .
  • Pairing will suddenly come back to work at random.
  • When the right airpod first disconnects, and the device is only connected to the left airpod - the sound from both the right side and left side be heard from the left bud, i checked this by panning the audio to the right only - and yet i still had sound in the left side airpod

Have you found a resolution for this? I had this problem in 2023 several firmware versions ago, and now the issue has popped back up with firmware version 6B34.

The issue is so persistent and frustrating that I wish I bought a different pair of headphones. It’s embarrassing that Apple can’t find a reliable solution for such a simple problem; even more embarrassing the problem has been re-introduced with this firmware version. It’s also quite embarrassing on Apple’s part that no support rep has responded to this thread. What’s going on? A trillion dollar company can’t figure out a Bluetooth connectivity bug that seemingly no other major headset brand has?

I’ve sent them for a repair, and when they asked for payment to fix the issue I contacted Apple and asked them to cover the cost of the repair since it wasn’t due to any thing I caused/did - but a software issue on their end.

it took around a month to get this closed and approved, but it happened and I received completely AirPods essentially (new parts - new case and new pair of AirPods)
