iPad 10 FaceTime freezes after installing ios 18.

Reinstalled FaceTime app, hard restarted iPad, reinstalled iOS 18 with apple agent, went to Apple Store to check for hardware problem. No hardware problem. FaceTime still freezes.

Temporary fix that has worked for me: turn off 'Center Stage' video effect (Swipe down on right hand side when in Facetime application to access video options). This was suggested on a Reddit thread, and a number of other people have reported that it works for them.

This obviously has the downside of disabling the wide camera view, which is inconvenient - but at least Facetime is usable. I hope Apple are monitoring this thread and find a permanent fix for the problem.

It started as described, then worsened. Forced restart, hard reset to factory settings, setting up as new, deleting and reinstalling FaceTime... all multiple times in different order, on WiFi and using MacBook Air without installing backup... image still freezes but audio continues for a couple of minutes. I also figured out by chance that the back camera wasn't working (black screen when attempting to take a photo while FaceTime was in PIP and pushed to the side) but that eventually was spontaneously resolved.

Now I'm having difficulties with FaceTime on MacBook Air M1 running Sequoia 15.0.1. Error: you need to activate FaceTime & An internal error occurred. You need to quit and open FaceTime again.
