CarPlay not working with iPhone 16 Pro

I upgraded my iPhone 12 Pro to a 16 Pro, and the new phone will not connect to my 2018 Mazda CX-5 with CarPlay. When I plug it in, it charges but makes no sign of connecting.

same here. Just upgraded and i’m so disappointed I have tried EVERYTHING… i’ve been on the phone with apple support with multiple supervisors for hours and nothing has worked. It will connect for a few seconds and then just suddenly cut out. I even tried some the products people recommended here and so far nothing … I have a 2022 car which is fairly new. My 13 pro max never had a problem before

Mercedes folks: I have a 2019 E class that supports CarPlay over USB. I can’t believe I didn’t look for this setting until now, but go to your Mercedes main screen and select Connections and then you should see Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, etc etc. I had to re-enable and reauthorize CarPlay on this screen. Prompts should pop up when you connect the cable to your iPhone 16. First I removed the phone from the Phone menu, and removed the car from the phones Bluetooth settings. No new cables needed, no changes in iPhone settings other than make sure Siri is enabled. Hope this helps.

I ungraded my iPhone 11 to a 15 Pro and the 15 Pro would not connect to my Hyundai Santa Fe 3/2018 make with wired Apple Carplay. The symptoms: it would charge the phone, when connected to the USB A carplay port, carplay would show the ringing and after the call was answered but zero audio. No made or received audio phone calls or verbal maps directions would not come through to Carplay. Did you have the same symptons?

I have the iPhone 16 Pro Max and experienced the same issue. I tried everything to get it working, including purchasing the Apple-branded Type C to Lightning adapter. Initially, it worked fine in my Jeep, but then it started freezing up. I had to unplug and plug it back in to reconnect.

After working with Apple Support, we performed a network reset on the device, and now it's working properly.

Steps to reset the network on your iPhone:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Scroll down and select Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  4. Tap on Reset.
  5. Choose Reset Network Settings.
  6. Enter your passcode if prompted, then confirm the reset.

After the reset, your iPhone will restart, and you should re-enter your Wi-Fi passwords and reconnect to any Bluetooth devices.

Hope this helps someone out

Fixed! 2019 GMC Terrain. iPhone 16 Pro. Was not connecting. Kept saying plug in supported phone to launch Apple car play. And then kept cutting out and black screen. Purchased the Belkin Boost Data cable. And had to do an infotainment reset in the settings of the GMC. Only had to reprogram the radio stations back in. Plugged in the phone and we’re back to normal. Very stressful for awhile. Dealer installed new update and couldn’t get it to work and wanted to install a new infotainment system. 🤔How bout NO… 😬 Goodluck out there. And thank you for the advice in this forum. Hope this helps someone also. 👍🏻
