iPadOS 18 Notes - How do I turn off spell check for handwriting?

We really need this resolved. It’s making me really really sad every time I use Notes. It’s one of the best note taking apps, why ruin it like this. Please Apple consider giving us the option to turn off spell checks.

The Apple Support Community is a user-to-user technical forum. Contributors here are all end-users, just like you. Other than the site Moderators, Apple neither monitor nor participate here. Apple invite submission of comments and feature requests via its Product Feedback portal. If you would like to see a specific feature or functionality in a future version of iPadOS, this would be the most appropriate channel through which to make a request:

Doesn't work at all. I have all dictionaries deactivated. My handwriting still gets spell checked (blue dots).

Apple notes with pencil is now unusable due to this **** blue dotted lines with every words.. Is it their new AI??

disabling handwriting auto correct doesn't fix this issue for me

Omg yes, as I love to write in 3 different languages, these underline spell checks driving me crazy on the newer iPad. This is why I prefer to use the old one from 2018 year. Product Manager who would think that only English is the only language people are using is just plain dumb person.

Hey! I believe you can disable the feature by pressing the three dots when the Apple Pencil menu is open, and disabling the switch ‘Auto-refine handwriting’. I also got frustrated with this because it would end up making my writing unintelligible, found this and it is working for me. Let me know if it works :)

FOUND IT! The option is imbedded within the options where you can change the types of pen tips (eraser, pen, ruler, etc.) of the Apple Pencil! Click the 3 dots and unselect the ‘Auto-refine handwriting’!
