What should I do if my Calculator won't reset after iOS 18 update?

After the iOS 18 update my calculator will not stay at zero. While in my pocket a bunch of random numbers got entered in. Now when I zero out or delete the history close the app it opens right back up to the same long strand of numbers.

Here’s a temporary fix I guess but it works for me:: On calculator open whatever yours says clear with the AC, then hit the decimal between 0 and = then close calculator. Reopen calculator and it should be 0. As long as you clear everything before you close every time it will open with 0.

I cannot replicate what you are reporting. What are your calculator settings? If I tap AC the display goes to zero. If I exit the calculator, then re-open it, it still shows zero. I tried using the basic calculator and the scientific calculator.

How are you exiting the Calculator app?

By exiting to the HOME screen with the HOME button or by swiping up on the bottom car (on Face ID devices)

or

By opening the App Switcher and swiping up on the Calculator app to kill the app instantly, before it can save its working data?

I tried both ways, and the results were the same.
