Screen Brightness Dimming and Then Becoming Locked (Macbook Air)

I have this minor issue where sometimes my 2024 mac book air brightness sometimes dims down to the maximum and locks, rendering me unable to change it. The display bar appears slightly greyed out and it doesn't even show in settings in these moments. This usually happens if I leave my laptop for a moment and then come back to it.

I've usually fixed it by restarting my computer, but is there a permanent fix?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.6

Try and boot the mac in the safe mode

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

If the issues do not persist in the safe mode you might want to look into the external software your have installed to your mac
