iOS 18 Bluetooth Connection problems

my vehicle is a 2017 year model. I had an iPhone 12 pro running iOS 17. Connected via Bluetooth to car with no problems at all. Played my music, hands free calls, read texts aloud, read aloud map directions, etc., through my car speakers. “Upgraded” to iPhone 16 pro running iOS 18.1. Bluetooth connection will play music but will not connect (not even shown as an audio option) when making/taking calls, using maps, etc., no audio output at all with any feature but the music.

This has been an issue for me after updating to iOS 18.0.1 on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. It has impacted connection with my 2012 Toyota Yaris and my RENPHO scale. I have tried many fixes, none have worked. I find that hard restarting the phone will re-enable the connection temporarily.

My Airpods and other wireless speakers connect fine. But my phone will not connect with my Ford Fusion ever since I updated to iOS 18. I have tried several different things I found online/youtube. Turning bluetooth off and on, turning airplane mode off and on. Reset my network. Soft reset. Nothing works. CarPlay will connect but as soon as I try to play music, audiobook, or anything else through the bluetooth connection it disconnects. Many times after that it will disconnect as soon as it reconnects. Very, very frustrating. Very disappointed with Apples help on this issue.

• Choose "Reset Network Settings"
• Enter your passcode if prompted
• Confirm the reset

i did this and my music works in my car again

I have a a similar issue using phonak hearing aids while streaming phone calls. One hearing aid drops out and reconnects every 30-60seconds. And as others have mentioned, sound quality is poor !

Same thing here, both with AppleWatch, with CarPlay (BMW) and even more annoying with my AirPods or Bluetooth speakers (Bosé and JBL). It all started with the iOS update. I hope there is a fix soon

Having a similar issue when connecting the phone to headphones and a portable speaker(via Bluetooth). They both have these small breaks when I lock the screen, charge the phone, etc.

Same here with iPhone 16 pro and Apple Watch 4. Suddenly disconnections and unnable to connect if they are a some meters away

I use a wired connection (aux) in my car (too old for Bluetooth) and this has stopped working with IOS18 - can no longer play my music through my car speakers - this is rubbish!

This did NOT work for me, unfortunately.

Almost bought a new speaker because I thought that was the problem. Going to try deleting and reinstalling.

Can’t connect with my Mac Air M1, says device not supported. It’s getting super annoying using apple, there seems to be a new problem everyday!

I have been facing this issue when I’m connected to CarPlay and to my AirPods Pro. The audio gets disconnected when I lock and unlock my phone. This happens mainly when connected via Bluetooth.
