After upgraded to iOS 18, I found that search function was missing for Photo Albums. And the search function in iOS 18 Photos wasn’t able to search for the Photo album name. How to resolve this ?
Below procedure worked for me so try this:
“The detection process requires iPhone to be locked and connected to power. Depending on what tasks are running in the background and the size of your photo library, the process could happen quickly or take up to a few days to complete”
I was wirelessly charging my iPhone 16 Pro for over 2 weeks and the photo search function still wasn’t working. After coming accross the above information, I used my usbc charging cable and physically charged the phone overnight twice in a row, the search function started working the next morning. So I guess the phone does require to be physically connected to power in order for the phone to learn your large photo library. Hope this helps.

C-A-P-T-I-O-N-S no longer appear in Search results on iOS 18. This is a disaster for me because I use captions like tags and search for them all day long

It seems I have found the solution on the Nexboy forum. There's a solution on how you can fix it, and I have followed their solution.
I used to be able to say “Hey siri show me photos of Bae” and it would pull up photos of my wife. Now it pulls randoms photos from the internet. It’s the beta so maybe it isn’t finished yet.
I checked the Nexboy forum link you provided and it simply asked people to wait for the next update. But there is no guarantee that the next update will fix the issues.
I have the exact same problem. Searching my captions is useless now. Any search also shows very small thumbnails that I can barely see the content. My photos app is now very useless to me
This is totally pathetic, i am not able to search my photos which are in albums. Please revert this, this change makes photos a mess

Open camera, press x at bottom of the page then albums will appear!

Agree this is a big problem that needs to be fixed ASAP. We have important travel tickets stored in albums and now can’t find them. Apple need to prioritise this.
Yep. Just tried it. Can’t search with key words. Should be able to search any word. Any. Phrase. Etc. iPad is a bit better but iPhone. Come on
